Bamboo's hollow compartments symbolize modest and open-minded personality. They bend but are not easily broken with implication of moral integrity.

The pen is made using straight part of Arhat bamboo and decorated with mokume-gane finials and maki-e of maple leaves motifs. The pen has been coated with multiple layers of raw lacquer to weather the changes of temperature and humidity.
