Description
【CYPRESS –Raden-Eight Prized Steeds】
In the history of Chinese painting, the horse is a favourite element of painters.
The horse's bones, muscles, tissues, and the light and shadow levels of the landscape background, through the ink and wash of Chinese painting, influenced by the Western perspective, anatomy, etc., can vividly depict the horse's sassy and heroic posture. The eight horses are said to be the royal riders of King Zhou Mu. Zhao Mengfu, Xu Beihong, Giuseppe Castiglione, and the masters of the past dynasties have all painted paintings titled "Eight Horses".
The designer used Giuseppe Castiglione’s pictures of eight horses as an inspiration, and successfully reproduced the light and shadow changes in the traditional Chinese painting and the exquisiteness of horses’ manes with Laotian craftsmanship. Taking a rest will not reduce the heroic posture!
Raden is a traditional Chinese handicraft technique.Grinding conch or shells into thin slices, cutting them into different patterns with the skill of artisans, and then inlay the thin shells on pen according to the sketches, is an ancient and exquisite technique that is about to be lost.
