Kawari-nuri is a popular lacquering technique broadly applied to urushi pens nowadays. Those patterns are randomly created by artists. Therefore, no two kawari-nuri patterns are fully identical. Even the same artist is unable to replicate his\/her own works.<\/p>\n

The special drying conditions of natural tree lacquer are extremely cumbersome and time-consuming, requiring dozens of repeated painting and polishing.
