The beauty of wood grain lies not only in its surface patterns, but also in the luster cultivated through time and craftsmanship.

This collection features a variety of woods, including Taiwan incense cedar, rosewood, burl wood, and more, each used to shape the pen body and reveal its own natural texture, color, and character. Some grains resemble layered mountain rocks, some flow like rippling water, while others display the distinctive swirling patterns of burl wood, creating a calm yet richly expressive depth across the pen.

Unlike the commonly used CA glue or cashew lacquer finishes often seen in the market, we use genuine urushi as the complete coating. The urushi process requires repeated applications, drying, refining, and polishing, allowing the lacquer layers to gradually bond with the wood and bring greater depth to the grain beneath a warm, refined sheen.

Urushi is not merely a surface protection, but a craft that allows the material to mature over time. It lets the texture and color of the wood settle beneath the lacquer layers, forming a restrained, mellow luster with a quiet sense of age.

“Relume” suggests a quiet return of light. Through layers of urushi, the wood grain appears like aged trees and stone paths deep within the mountains—serene, graceful, and increasingly profound the longer one looks.
