The idea to design a pen associated with printed circuit board (or PCB) was derived from Cypress' parent, a Taiwanese technology company. The analog subsidiary seems irrelevant to its digital parent while they share similar organized logic behind their day-to-day operations, just like a PCB.

The pen is designed with raden to present the densely arrayed set of electronic circuits. The pattern is not only rarely seen on pen design but also requiring the artisan's patience and skill to cut the inlayed raden shells to fit the hand-carved ebonite body, followed by multiple polishing to make this stylish writing instrument.

Raden is a traditional Chinese handicraft technique.Grinding conch or shells into thin slices, cutting them into different patterns with the skill of artisans,and then inlay the thin shells on pen according to the sketches, is an ancient and exquisite technique that is about to be lost.
